Week 4: Facial Expressions, Heavy Object & Change of Mind (Blocking), and Stitch’s Tea Party

Facial Expressions

This week we studied facial expressions and how to make them look real.

These are 3 main features that sould be maintained.

  1. Faces in real life are asymmetrical, so it has to be the same in 3D. What is more, in order to make them more believable we can make exagerate expressions.

2. To make face more appealing, shapes should be assymetrical too.

3. Connectivity means that everything on the face are connected through muscles and, thus, when one part moves, everything moves too

For our assignment we had to pose 5 facial poses using model sheet.

Heavy Object & Change of Mind (Blocking)

Here is my blocking stage of the shot.

Ting gave me feedback:

  • move all body
  • add more poses
  • 45F – do not move tip toes
  • 64F – clear the silhouette
fix the spine
correct COG first
push resting pose

Stitch’s Tea Party
